Vehicle crashes into Marinette County house, driver killed

PORTERFIELD, WI— A Wisconsin man was killed when his vehicle crashed into a house in the town of Porterfield Thursday.

The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 10:50 p.m.

Twenty-three-year-old Brady Walters of Marinette was southbound on State Highway 180 when he failed to negotiate a curve, entered the ditch, and ultimately crashed into a house.

Walters was not wearing a seat belt and was killed.

Speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Assisting deputies were the Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office, the Grover Porterfield Fire Department, Aurora Medical Center-Bay Area EMS, and Wisconsin Public Service.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
