Elderly woman hit by car in Menominee County

HARRIS TOWNSHIP, MI— A pedestrian suffered serious injuries when she was struck by a vehicle in Harris Township Thursday afternoon.

The Menominee County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched around 3:35 p.m. to the intersection of US-2 & 41 and Sabourin Lane D-1.

Upon arrival, deputies provided immediate assistance to the pedestrian, an 87-year-old woman. She was alert and verbal but had serious injuries. The woman was airlifted to UPHS-Marquette for treatment.

Assisting at the scene were Michigan State Police, the Harris Township Fire Department, Hermansville Rescue, Rampart EMS, Guardian Flight air ambulance, and Menominee County 911.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
