MCMILLAN TOWNSHIP, MI— A Newberry man is in custody, after a vehicle crashed into a snowmobile in Luce County Saturday.
Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched around 7:45 p.m. to County Road 451 in McMillan Township. A 36-year-old woman and 35-year-old man were injured and taken to the hospital.
A 53-year-old Newberry man who had been driving the vehicle left the scene on foot prior to deputies’ arrival. He was subsequently located at a nearby residence and taken into custody for operating while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Deputies were assisted by Luce County EMS, the Newberry Fire Department, and Michigan State Police.
