Pembine man killed in single-vehicle crash

PEMBINE, WI— A Marinette County accident claimed the life of a Pembine man on Friday.

It happened at 2:25 p.m. on Cemetery Road near Short Cut Road. A vehicle driven by Jacob Bruneau, 44, was eastbound when he failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle left the road and struck a tree.

Bruneau was taken by Guardian Life Flight to the hospital, but he later died of his injuries.

Speed and failure to maintain control appear to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation by the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office and Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Assisting in the incident were the Beecher-Dunbar-Pembine Fire Department, Pembine-Dunbar-Beecher Rescue, Integrity Care EMS, and Tim Witt Chevrolet Towing.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
