Rapid River man killed in Ensign Township two-vehicle crash

ENSIGN TOWNSHIP, MI— One person was killed after his vehicle was struck head-on in Delta County’s Ensign Township Sunday.

Michigan State Police from the Gladstone Post responded around 10:12 a.m. to County 513 T Road near Twin Springs Park 20.5 Lane. Preliminary investigation found a southbound vehicle crossed the centerline and struck a northbound vehicle.

The driver of the northbound vehicle, a 60-year-old Rapid River man, sustained fatal injuries.

The driver of the southbound vehicle, a 45-year-old man, also from Rapid River, was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba with serious injuries.

Troopers say drugs and/or alcohol may be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
