Vehicle/house crash likely caused by medical incident, Marquette Police say

MARQUETTE, MI— A medical incident is thought to have caused a driver to crash into a house in Marquette Sunday afternoon.

Marquette Police were called around 4:40 p.m. to 708 Wright Street and found a pickup truck had driven into the house, causing extensive damage to the structure.

Inside the vehicle were the driver, a 33-year-old Gwinn man, and two girls, ages 12 and 5. They were taken to UPHS-Marquette with minor injuries.

Police say investigation indicates the driver suffered a medical issue while driving eastbound on Wright Street. That caused the truck to leave the road and hit the house.

No one was in the house at the time of the crash.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
