Ishpeming man dies from injuries sustained in Ishpeming Township crash

ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP, MI— A single-vehicle crash in Ishpeming Township claimed the life of the driver Monday morning.

Township Police say it happened around 8:40 a.m. on County Road GGT.

Investigation indicates a Jeep was westbound near Clark Creek when the driver—a 48-year-old Ishpeming man—lost control on a corner. The vehicle went down an embankment and into a tree line.

The driver had to be extricated by 131 Technical Rescue personnel. He was taken to UPHS-Marquette but died of his injuries.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were Negaunee Township Fire/EMS, the Ishpeming Township Fire Department, Marquette County Technical Rescue 131, Michigan State Police, and Central Dispatch 911.
