Cement roller crushes worker in Moran Township

MORAN TOWNSHIP, MI— A man was killed in a workplace accident in Mackinac County Friday.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to a site in Moran Township. They say a 55-year-old man was operating a cement roller when he lost control on a steep area. The machine rolled over and crushed the man, then landed in a ditch.

The worker was fatally injured. His name has not yet been released.

Deputies were assisted by Michigan State police, St. Ignace City Police and Fire, Straits Area EMS, the Mackinac County Victim’s Services Unit, and Merle’s Towing.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
