Bicyclist hit by vehicle in Houghton, taken to hospital

HOUGHTON, MI— A bicyclist was struck by a vehicle in Houghton Tuesday afternoon.

City Police responded around 1:50 p.m. to Townsend Drive/US-41. Officers say a bicyclist riding on the sidewalk was struck by a vehicle driven by a 21-year-old Minnesota man.

The injured bicyclist was taken to UPHS-Portage for treatment by Mercy Ambulance.
The crash remains under investigation.

Houghton Police were assisted by Michigan Tech Public Safety & Police Services and Michigan Tech First Responders.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
