Keweenaw motorcycle crash kills one on Monday

GRANT TOWNSHIP, MI— A Kentucky man died in a motorcycle crash in Keweenaw County on Monday.

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched just before noon to US-41 near the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge in Grant Township.

A 68-year-old man from White Plains, Kentucky was northbound when he failed to negotiate a curve and hit a guardrail. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office. The victim’s identity has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

The Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Copper Harbor Fire & First Responders, Mercy Ambulance, and the Keweenaw County Medical Examiner’s Office.
