Woman pinned between vehicles dies at Gogebic County campground

MARENISCO TOWNSHIP, MI— The Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death at Moosehead Lake Campground in Marenisco Township.

Deputies responded Monday around 3:25 p.m. to a report that an unresponsive woman had been struck by a camper. They found a 65-year-old Roscommon woman pinned between a fifth-wheel camper and a truck.

Despite CPR and other lifesaving measures, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of her injuries. No names have been released.

The incident remains under investigation.

Assisting in the incident were Michigan State from the Wakefield Post, the DNR Law Enforcement Division, U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement, Marenisco Township Police, Fire and EMS, Lake Gogebic Fire, Beacon Ambulance, and Gogebic County Victim Services.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
