Fatal crash in Masonville Township investigated

MASONVILLE TOWNSHIP, MI— A Munising man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Delta County Monday.

Michigan State Police from the Gladstone Post responded around 3:55 p.m. to the intersection of 24th Road and County 511 W.5 Road in Masonville Township.

Preliminary investigation reveals an eastbound commercial delivery truck stopped at the intersection, then continued through. It collided with a southbound pickup truck.

The driver of the pickup, a 51-year-old Munising man, sustained fatal injuries. The driver of the delivery vehicle, a 29-year-old Seney man, sustained minor injuries and was treated at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.

The crash remains under investigation.

Assisting in the incident were the Delta County Sheriff’s Office, Ensign and Masonville Township Fire Departments, Rampart EMS, and Pro Towing.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
