22-year-old killed in Alger County snowmobile accident

SHINGLETON TOWNSHIP, MI— An Ohio man died in a single snowmobile accident in Alger County Saturday.

Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post responded around 10:30 p.m. to Trail 8 near H-58 in Shingleton Township. They say the driver was unable to negotiate a corner on the trail and struck a tree at a high rate of speed.

Emergency medical aid was administered but was unsuccessful. The 22-year-old man from Garrettsville, Ohio passed away from injuries sustained in the crash.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
