Emergency officials respond to Marquette County snowmobile incidents

MARQUETTE COUNTY, MI— The Marquette County Special Operations Division and Search and Rescue responded to two snowmobile accidents last week.

Thursday around 8:20 p.m., deputies responded to Mount Marquette to assist the City of Marquette with a single snowmobile personal injury accident. Search and Rescue was able to access the injured rider and take EMS to the scene using the department’s tracked side-by-side.

Friday around 5:45 p.m., deputies responded to Trail 8 between Morgan Meadows Road and Lake Enchantment Road for a two-sled accident involving an injured rider. A 56-year-old man from Alto, Michigan and a 44-year-old man from Columbus, Indiana hit each other in a tight corner and were thrown from their machines. The Michigan man was taken to UPHS-Marquette by the Marquette Township EMS and Fire Department.

The Marquette County Sheriff's Office reminds snowmobilers to ride as far to the right as possible and to reduce speed in corners and congested areas.
