Garden Township house explodes from suspected propane leak

GARDEN TOWNSHIP, MI— No one was injured when a house exploded in Delta County Monday.

Michigan State Police from the Gladstone Post responded around 9:24 p.m. to a report of a loud explosion in Garden Township. No specific address was given. Troopers searched the surrounding area and found a damaged residence on 18.5 Lane.

Officials say the explosion and fire happened in an unoccupied dwelling. The owners were not home at the time of the incident, and no other injuries were reported. Several neighboring homes sustained damage due to the explosion.

Troopers say the explosion may have been caused by a propane leak inside the house. The incident remains under investigation.

The MSP Aviation Unit and the Garden Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.
