WHITEFISH TOWNSHIP, MI— A Chippewa County man was killed in a snowmobile crash in Whitefish Township over the weekend.

Michigan State Police from the Sault Ste. Marie Post responded Saturday around 3:20 p.m. to West Green Shack Road near South Chippewa Hunt Club Row. Preliminary investigation showed a snowmobile was southbound on West Green Shack Road when it hit an embankment, went airborne, and ejected the driver.

Emergency medical aid was performed on the 62-year-old driver by a witness, but the Eckerman man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Speed appears to have been a factor in the crash.
