Crivitz woman dies in Stephenson, WI UTV crash

ambulance and police lights

STEPHENSON, WI— One person was killed and another injured in a UTV rollover accident in Marinette County on Saturday.

Around 3:04 p.m., Central Dispatch was notified of the crash on Caldron Falls Road near Fawn Lane in the town of Stephenson. The caller, who was an off-duty Marinette County Sheriff’s detective, came upon the UTV, which was rolled over on the side of the road. The detective saw two people pinned under the vehicle and immediately began rendering aid.

Investigation indicates Brooke Boulanger, 40, of Crivitz, was northbound when she failed to negotiate a curve and the UTV rolled over. Boulanger was not wearing a seatbelt or helmet and was killed in the crash. A passenger, who also was not wearing a seatbelt or helmet, was injured and taken to the hospital.

Speed, alcohol, and failure to wear a seatbelt appear to be factors in the crash.

The accident remains under investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the Marinette County Sheriff's Office, and the Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Assisting at the scene were the Stephenson Fire Department, Twin Bridge Rescue, and Oconto Falls Ambulance Service.
