Iron County crash between box truck and pickup kills woman

fatal crash

HEMATITE TOWNSHIP, MI— A crash between a box truck and a pickup truck in Iron County Thursday killed one person and injured another.

Around 3:35 a.m., deputies responded to US-141 and Offerman Road in Hematite Township. They found a box truck and a Chevrolet Colorado with extensive damage.

Investigation indicates the Colorado was southbound on 141 when it crossed the centerline and struck the box truck.

The driver of the Colorado, a 45-year-old Vulcan woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 22-year-old female passenger, also from Vulcan, was taken to Aspirus Iron River for treatment.

The driver of the box truck, a 55-year-old Felch man, was not injured.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
