Dirt bike crash kills rider in Germfask Township

GERMFASK TOWNSHIP, MI— A Schoolcraft County man was killed when his dirt bike crashed into a parked truck Sunday night.

Michigan State Police from the Manistique Outpost responded around 10:50 p.m. to M-77 near Grant Road in Germfask Township. They say a 33-year-old Germfask man was operating a dirt bike on the highway when he struck a legally parked pickup truck on the shoulder of the highway.

Despite life-saving efforts by two citizens, responding troopers, and EMS personnel, the man sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased while being transported to the hospital.

Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
