Lack of seatbelt use possible factor in fatal Iron County, WI crash

fatal crash

KIMBALL, WI— A man was killed in a rollover crash in Iron County, Wisconsin last week.

Deputies say it happened Thursday around 1:10 p.m. in the town of Kimball. A 31-year-old Gile, Wisconsin man was northbound at a high rate of speed on County Highway D when he lost control of the vehicle and entered the west side ditch. The vehicle rolled over before coming to rest.

The Iron County Sheriff’s Office, Hurley Police Department, and Beacon Ambulance responded. They found the unconscious driver trapped in the vehicle. He had to be extricated by Hurley Fire and Rescue.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. It’s believed he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation.
