CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI— No serious injuries were reported when a truck hit a tree in Chocolay Township Monday morning.

Township Police say it happened at about 8:34 a.m. on M-28 near the Alger County line.

Initial reports stated the driver was trapped in the box truck, which may have been smoking. People at the scene were able to get the driver out of the vehicle to a safe location.

Investigation reveals the truck was eastbound when it left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver was taken to UPHS-Marquette for treatment.

One lane of M-28 was shut down while the truck and tree were removed.
