Keweenaw County Sheriff's Office investigates fatal motorcycle crash

KEWEENAW COUNTY, MI— A Wisconsin man has died in a motorcycle crash in the Keweenaw.

The Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office responded Friday around 7:40 p.m. to a report of a single-motorcycle crash on US-41, about a half-mile south of Washington Mine Road.

Investigation indicates a 72-year-old man from Cumberland, Wisconsin was driving a three-wheeled motorcycle when he lost control of the machine. The bike left the roadway and struck a tree, and the driver was ejected. He sustained critical injuries and was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. No names have been released, pending notification of family.

Assisting in the incident were the Copper Harbor Fire Department, Copper Harbor First Responders, Mercy EMS, and Michigan State Police.
