MSP investigating Osceola Township crash that killed two motorcyclists

OSCEOLA TOWNSHIP, MI— Two people were killed in a crash in Houghton County Wednesday.

Around 12:30 p.m., Michigan State Police from the Calumet Post were dispatched to US-41 near Golf Course Road in Osceola Township.

Troopers say a 45-year-old woman and two child passengers in an SUV were southbound on the highway. She wasn’t aware that a pickup truck ahead of her was stopped, waiting to turn onto Golf Course Road. To avoid a collision, she entered the northbound lane of US-41 and struck two motorcyclists.

Both motorcyclists, a 65-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman from South Carolina, were killed. The SUV driver and the children were evaluated at the scene and released.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
