IRONWOOD, MI— Two people had to be rescued when they fell over Rainbow Falls in Gogebic County Monday.
Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched around 1:38 p.m. to the falls near Black River Trail. Investigation indicates one person tried to cross the Black River and slipped. When the second individual attempted to help, the current pulled both of them over the falls.
The two were hoisted to safety by the Gogebic County Search and Rescue team. They suffered only minor injuries.
Assisting in the incident were Michigan State Police from the Wakefield Post, U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement, the Ironwood Township Fire Department, and Beacon Ambulance.
