Driver injured when her car rear-ends West Iron County school bus

School bus and cracked window

IRON COUNTY, WI— An Iron County woman was injured Monday when her vehicle hit a stopped school bus near Iron River.

The Iron County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 7 a.m. on US-2 near Sunset Lake Road. Preliminary investigation indicates the West Iron County bus was stopped with its stop arm and flashing red lights activated when it was rear-ended by a Saturn Aura.

The 27-year-old driver was taken to Aspirus Iron River Hospital for treatment of her injuries. Neither the driver of the bus nor the one student on board were hurt.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
