PENTLAND TOWNSHIP, MI— A Cedarville man was arrested for operating while intoxicated, causing incapacitating injury following a crash early Saturday morning in Luce County.
Around 3 a.m., troopers from the Sault Ste. Marie Post responded to the intersection of M-28 and M-117. Preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was northbound on 117 when the 27-year-old driver from Cedarville ignored traffic control lights at the intersection. The vehicle crossed M-28, entered the ditch, and crashed into the embankment.
All three passengers were seriously injured and taken to Helen Newberry Joy Hospital. The driver refused medical treatment for minor injuries.
Troopers say the driver displayed signs of being under the influence. After further investigation, he was arrested and lodged in the Luce County Jail.
MSP was assisted by Luce County EMS, Newberry Fire Department, and Chippewa County Central Dispatch.
