MACKINAC COUNTY, MI— Two people were injured in a pickup/train crash in Mackinac County over the weekend.
Michigan State Police from the St. Ignace post responded Saturday around 9:35 a.m. to Borgstrom Road near Black River Road in Hudson Township. They say a pickup truck disregarded the traffic control signal, failed to yield to the train, and caused the crash.
The driver, a 34-year-old Newberry man, and a juvenile passenger both sustained non-life-threatening injuries. They were taken to Helen Newberry Joy Hospital for treatment. No one on the train was injured.
Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
MSP was assisted by the Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office, Hendricks Township Fire Department, Hudson Township Fire Department, Garfield Township Fire and EMS, Luce County EMS, and Chippewa County Central Dispatch.
