Marquette, MI – A former United States Olympic Education Center speedskater and coach has set a new world record on his bicycle. Scott Koons recently received word from the Guinness Book of World Records that he has officially ridden a bicycle the longest distance in an hour without touching the handlebars. He performed the feat in September of last year in the Superior Dome, riding 16 and a quarter miles in 60 minutes. Koons credits his speedskating background for his strong sense of balance on the bicycle.
