Carney business goes up in flames

CARNEY, MI – Menominee County officials are investigating a fire at a Carney business Thursday night.

The county Sheriff’s Department says firefighters were called to Superior Cedar Products around 5 p.m. Thursday. High winds apparently encouraged the flames, which spread rapidly through the building. More than 100 firefighters battled the blaze, which flared up again and had to be brought back under control.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
