WHITEFISH POINT, MI-- Plans are in the works to expand the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point in Chippewa County.
The U.S. House and Senate recently approved legislation correcting an error in federal rules regarding expansion and preservation efforts at the museum. The original document was issued in 1998 and referenced an obsolete plan for the property.
The Great Lakes Shipwreck Society wants to move an existing building, a motor lifeboat house, to the museum grounds and build a replica of the assistant keeper's quarters.
