StoryCorps grand opening Monday

MARQUETTE, MI--   A national organization dedicated to recording the stories of Americans from every walk of life is holding an opening day event in Marquette Monday.

StoryCorps is partnering with Public Radio 90 to collect the stories of U.P. residents in a mobile booth parked at Peter White Public Library.

Every interview will be archived at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.  Portions of some interviews may even air on NPR’s Morning Edition.

An opening ceremony will be held at 11:45 a-m at Peter White Library to introduce the public to the StoryCorps staff.

For more information or to schedule your own interview, go to wnmufm.org.  Additional reservation slots will open Tuesday.

The StoryCorps mobile booth will be in Marquette through August 2.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
