HOUGHTON, MI--   The 41 North Film Festival starts its four-day run at Michigan Technological University on Thursday.

In its 14th-year, the event brings award-winning independent films and filmmakers to the Keweenaw Peninsula, including area native Heather Courtney.

This year’s festival features more than 20 films dealing with topics ranging from solar-powered flight to industrial musicals.

The festival is free and open to the public. It begins Thursday evening at the Rozsa Center.
