Michigan Christmas tree chosen from Marenisco property

MARENISCO, MI— This year’s official state Christmas tree will come from Gogebic County.

The 63-foot spruce will be harvested in Marenisco on property belonging to Carla Fletcher and her family.

The tree will be cut October 27^th and transported to the Capitol with help from the Michigan Association of Timbermen and the Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association. The journey culminates with a tree lighting ceremony Friday, November 19^th, at the 35^th Annual Silver Bells in the City celebration.

It’s the second state tree to hail from Gogebic County, and the 24^th to come from the Upper Peninsula.
