Input sought on Marquette playground art piece

MARQUETTE, MI— The City of Marquette is looking for feedback on plans for an art installation at Kids Cove Playground at Mattson Park.

The Marquette Public Art Commission will commission a piece of art inspired by a dragonfly to be placed at the entrance to the playground. It aims to create a sense of wonder, play, and joy.

It will also honor Joani Reynolds Miller, a retired preschool teacher who had a vision of making life for children with disabilities more inclusive in the community.

There are three artist finalists. To view the designs and submit feedback, click here. Input will be welcomed until February 9th at 5 p.m.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
