NMU Art Museum gets $2 million DeVos gift

MARQUETTE, MI— The Daniel & Pamella DeVos Foundation has given $2 million to the NMU Art Museum.

Half the donation will be added to the permanent endowment of the DeVos Art Museum. The other half will establish a fund aimed at creating an NMU arts district that will benefit the university and Marquette communities.

Dan and Pamella established the DeVos Art Museum. It’s named after Dan’s parents, Richard and Helen, who were 1998 NMU honorary degree co-recipients.

Dan DeVos also served a seven-year term on the NMU Board of Trustees. He was appointed by former Governor John Engler in April 1995 and served as chair from January 2001 until the end of his term in 2002.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
