Phyllis Wong

Celebrated author and former Northern Michigan University First Lady Phyllis Wong will talk about her book, We Kept Our Towns Going: The Gossard Girls of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Saturday during the 77th annual UP History Conference at NMU. She'll also give a talk at the Ishpeming Senior Center on Monday, June 29.

Wong sat down to speak with Nicole Walton about how her book has been received and what she believes about the economic power of women.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
