Senator to tour U.P. small businesses

MARQUETTE, MI--   U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow is scheduled to meet with small business owners in a two-day trip across the U.P. 

Tuesday at 9 a.m. the Michigan Democrat will visit Delta Manufacturing in Escanaba, then Cretens Brothers Furniture in Perkins at 10:15 a.m.  At 2 p.m. Stabenow is set to visit downtown Marquette small businesses.  They include Beth Millner Jewelry, The Flying Moose, Revisions Design Studio, and Donckers. 

Wednesday at 10 a.m. Stabenow will be in St. Ignace, visiting Java Joe’s Café and the Voyageur Trading Post.

The U.S. Small Business Administration says small businesses employed more than half, or 1.8 million, of the state’s private workforce in 2012.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
