Gas company says it's not soliciting customers door-to-door

PORT HURON, MI--   SEMCO Energy says it’s receiving reports of people who claim to be employed by the gas company going door-to-door and asking for copies of customers’ bills.

SEMCO officials say they do not solicit customers door-to-door, ask for account numbers, or ask to see their bills.

Residents are urged not to share their personal information with strangers.

If the solicitor is promoting an alternative gas supplier, customers can review the Michigan Public Service Commission’s Customer Choice Program at w2.lara.state.mi.us/GasChoice.
