Marquette "cash mob" slated for Saturday

MARQUETTE, MI--   An anonymous group of people is gathering this Saturday to “cash mob” a Marquette business.

Alex Kofsky is the enterprise facilitator at nonprofit business coaching company Accelerate U.P., which is organizing the event.  He says the group started the concept to make positive impact on small businesses in the area.

Those who’d like to participate should gather at the Marquette Commons parking lot just before 11 a.m. Saturday.  At 11:00 sharp the secret business will be revealed to the mob.  Attendees will then follow a map to surprise the business with $20 in hand, “mobbing” it with cash.

Seven area businesses have already been “mobbed” this year.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
