Marquette Chamber introduces "Coworking"

MARQUETTE, MI--   Ampersand, a Chamber initiative, will be a 5,200-square-foot coworking office providing workspace for more than 50 people in the Masonic Square.

The planned office consists of nine private offices, 15 semi-private work stations, and 25 open work stations. Ampersand will be a community of businesses, entrepreneurs, independent contractors and remote workers benefiting from the synergy of working in a shared space. Ampersand memberships are available to anyone and include all utilities, wifi, conference facilities, mail service, printing service, community programming, and unlimited coffee.

The Marquette Chamber of Commerce has been discussing a coworking office since 2015. Over the last year, the pieces have come together to make Ampersand a reality. After running a feasibility study the Marquette Chamber has received interest from more than 60 businesses. With financial help from the Michigan Film and Digital Media Office (part of the MEDC), vision of the Masons, and 17 early adaptors who’ve signed pre-rental agreements, the Ampersand project is now ready for public engagement.

To make Ampersand a reality, the Marquette Chamber is seeking additional early adopters interested in renting space. Building on the 17 already signed up, we anticipate construction beginning in October, and an opening date in January 2018.
