Barrel + Beam holds grand opening this weekend

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A new Marquette Township brewery officially opens Saturday.

Barrel + Beam owners Nick VanCourt and Marina Dupler say it’s the U.P.’s first brewery devoted solely to farmhouse and barrel-aged beers.

They purchased the former Northwoods Supper Club building and performed a $2 million renovation. It now contains a brewery, multi-level tasting room, barrel and bottle aging space, cellar, malt room, lab, and bier garden.

The brewery officially launches Saturday at noon at 260 Northwoods Road.

For more information go to www.barrelandbeam.com or Barrell + Beam on Facebook.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
