Economic club revived and renamed in Delta County

ESCANABA, MI--   Delta County is updating a former economic club.

T.J. Thomas is executive director of the Delta County Economic Development Alliance. He says Next UP is a revitalization of the Bay Area Economic Club, whose membership dwindled over the years. Thomas says members talk about topics of regional and national importance.

Next UP includes local business leaders and county administration, and the group offers meetup sessions for networking.

“The collaboration between governments, between local business and just the average citizen gives us a little bit of a forum to have some of these difficult conversations without being held back by, I don’t know, agendas or any kind of tension. Some of the initial conversations that we had have just been very open, very honest. Just purely conversation,” he says.

Thomas says Next UP intends to hold two open professional development sessions during the year and two networking events, plus planning meetings.
