Iron Fish sending hand sanitizer to MBLP

MARQUETTE, MI--   The Marquette Board of Light and Power is working with a downstate distillery to supply hand sanitizer to essential businesses and organizations in the Upper Peninsula.

MBLP Executive Director Tom Carpenter is friends with Richard and Sarah Anderson, former Marquette residents and now owners of the Iron Fish Distillery in Thompsonville. When the distillery started making hand sanitizer Carpenter asked if the BLP could get some. That led to a plan to provide it to other essential organizations.

More than 100 gallons of sanitizer are on their way to Marquette. Iron Fish distributor Imperial Beverage has operations in Ishpeming and is donating transportation for the shipment.

Businesses and nonprofits can email info@ironfishdistillery.com to see how they can purchase hand sanitizer. The distillery is also donating some to the MBLP for distribution to regional nonprofits serving low-income and vulnerable populations.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
