Small business weatherization grant applications available Wednesday

MARQUETTE, MI--   Small businesses in Michigan can apply for weatherization grants that will help prevent the spread of COVID-19 starting Wednesday.

$3 million is available from the Small Business Association of Michigan and the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity. The money can be used to assist in the expansion of outdoor capacity during cold weather months. Eligible businesses include firms and nonprofits with 50 and fewer employees. Industries include restaurants and bars, retail stores and gyms and fitness centers.

The money is provided through the federal CARES Act. Applications can be submitted starting at noon Wednesday at miwintergrants.org/submit.
