Collins Aerospace to close, costing 100 jobs in Marinette County

PESHTIGO, WI— One of the world’s largest suppliers of aerospace and defense products is closing its facility in Marinette County, resulting in the loss of 100 jobs.

In a letter to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Monday, Collins Aerospace said it will begin to lay off employees at the Peshtigo facility on July 28th. The company plans to cease all operations on or around December 15th of this year.

Officials say none of the affected employees is represented by a union and cannot “bump” less senior employees at other locations.

The company did not provide any other details.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
