Nearly $1 million given to Hancock for industrial site preparedness

LANSING, MI— The Michigan Strategic Fund—at the request of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation—has approved a $969,000 grant for development of a new industrial park in Hancock.

Officials say the funding will complete necessary infrastructure improvements—increasing capacity in electric, gas, and water—at the 40-acre site. They say that will remove the last hurdle to it opening for business later this year.

The Hancock project was one of 18 across the state to receive Strategic Site Readiness Project awards. The SSRP was established to provide grants, loans, and other economic assistance for the purpose of creating investment-ready sites of all sizes across Michigan.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
