MEDC awards expansion grant to Rapid River business

RAPID RIVER, MI— A Rapid River company is getting a Michigan Economic Development Corporation grant to help it expand.

Creative Composites produces advanced composite materials for the defense, aerospace, automotive, and commercial industries. It’s getting $135,000 through the MEDC’s Micro Michigan Business Development Program.

The company plans to expand its existing facility. The expansion will include hydraulic press upgrades, the addition of other equipment, and the creation of an aerospace clean room.

The project is expected to generate a total capital investment of $960,000 and create 17 jobs.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
