16 small businesses awarded HUB grants

MARQUETTE, MI— The Central Upper Peninsula Small Business Support Hub has awarded 16 grants as part of its second Direct Grant cycle.

The HUB gave $113,100 to small businesses in Baraga, Delta, Dickinson, Marquette, Menominee, and Schoolcraft counties. Combined with $105,875 awarded during the first cycle, the HUB has now distributed $218,975 in grant funds to support 42 small businesses across the region.

The HUB is a collaboration of regional economic development organizations dedicated to empowering small businesses by providing resources, guidance, and funding to foster economic growth in the U.P.

The next grant cycle opens May 30 and runs through June 27.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
