DEARBORN, MI— Gas prices in Michigan are up 33 cents from a week ago. Michigan drivers are now paying an average of $3.92 per gallon for regular unleaded. This price is $1.07 more than this time last month and 74 cents more than this time last year.
Motorists are paying an average of $59 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline; an increase of about $8 from 2025's highest price last August.
According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gasoline demand decreased from 9.24 million b/d to 8.72 million. Total domestic gasoline supply decreased from 249.5 million barrels to 244 million. Gasoline production decreased last week, averaging 9.4 million barrels per day.
At the close of Friday’s formal trading session, WTI rose $2.18 to settle at $98.32 a barrel. The EIA reports crude oil inventories increased by 6.2 million barrels from the previous week. At 449.3 million barrels, U.S. crude oil inventories are about 1% below the five-year average for this time of year.
"Pump prices across Michigan have jumped rapidly with drivers paying the highest prices since the summer of 2023," said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA-The Auto Club Group.
Compared to last week, Metro Detroit’s average daily gas price increased. Metro Detroit’s current average is $3.93 per gallon, about 29 cents more than last week’s average and 81 cents more than this same time last year.
