SAULT STE. MARIE, MI— The Department of Natural Resources says it’s reducing in-person customer service operations at its Sault Ste. Marie Customer Service Center.
Beginning July 1, the office will move from offering public walk-in hours Monday through Friday to Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Officials say the decision comes after careful consideration of operational capacity, walk-in traffic, and limited staffing. Of the DNR’s 13 customer service centers, in-person customer service activity is consistently lowest at the Soo office.
Customers can still get help with their needs and questions by calling the Sault Ste. Marie field office, going to the Newberry Customer Service Center in neighboring Luce County, or by going online for various services, including DNR eLicense or the DNR Hunt/Fish mobile app.
